Agilitech’s dynamic Biotech division is seeking an experienced Senior DeltaV Automation Engineer, with the dedication and drive to play their part in shaping this growing biotech business. Our ideal match will have an in-depth knowledge of DeltaV, using S88 standards, as well as the entire lifecycle for GAMPV documentation. Knowledge and experience must include upstream and downstream bioprocessing technologies, along with scale up knowledge of the process, batch and recipes, and qualification process for IQ/OQ/PQ. You will be responsible for planning and coordinating the technical design and engineering implementation of Agilitech’s project work with our biotech partners. You do not need to be based in Bakersfield as remote working is acceptable, as long as travel is agreeable in certain instances.

Responsibilities:

• Work with customers through the sales process, discovery meetings, and problem-solving as part of the pursuit team.
• Develop user requirement specifications
• Develop software and hardware design specifications
• Design, program, implement, test, and document process control applications
• Develop control system validation/testing protocols
• Specify DeltaV components, drives, and other electrical components and equipment
• Develop electrical panel schematics
• Develop scope of supply documents
• Assist with estimates of man-hours required to complete projects
• Manage automation projects as assigned
• Monitor progress of projects
• Install, test, and start-up control systems on site
• Train operators and engineers on control systems

Essential Qualifications & Experience:

• A Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, or equivalent combination of education and technical experience
• A minimum of five (5) years’ experience in either a consulting engineering firm or operating engineering environment
• Experience in the biotech / pharma sector
• Thorough knowledge of process instrumentation and control systems
• Experience designing and programming control systems, with emphasis on Emerson DeltaV DCS
• Bioreactor, chromatography, and TFF operation
• Commissioning and start-up of control systems
• Ability to troubleshoot control systems, from the field element up through operator interfaces and databases
• Experience with control system networking technologies and PC networking technology
• Experience working with SQL Server, Oracle, or other relational databases
• Experience with S88 standards
• Experience of working with plant engineers, external vendors, operators, and management to coordinate projects and assignments

Desirable Experience:

• Experience with PLC, HMI, and SCADA systems
• Specific knowledge of cGMPs and batch process control in the life science industry, with validation experience
• Knowledge of 21 CFR Part 11 requirements
• Experience with Batch systems, such as Batch Executive, or RSBatch
• Experience with PLCs, such as Rockwell, GE Fanuc, Siemens, or Modicon
• Experience with Foundation Fieldbus, DeviceNet, As-i Bus, or Profibus
• Familiarity with Visual Basic scripting
